PLASTIC DOCTOR BLADE
A plastic doctor blade: the ink wiping blade used in printing such as screen printing, glass printing and textile printing. Made from PU, suited to ink wiping in the printing industry.
Flexoconcepts plastic doctor blade – USA
Plastic doctor blades for general printing and coating. Stable in organic solvents, oils and greases, acid solutions and weak alkaline solutions. In terms of heat resistance, Hi-PET blades can be used stably up to about 150°C, Hi-PE up to about 120°C and Hi-POM up to about 140°C.
– PU squeegee bar for printing (doctor blade):
- PU (polyurethane) is a material used in almost every field. It is durable, has good load and impact resistance and high resistance to oxidation and weathering, and is not affected by chemicals.
- The blade is very flat with a sharp edge, withstands high friction and is very durable in solvents, extending print time.
- Blades are available in many sizes, shapes and hardnesses to suit different printing needs.
- PU bars come in different sizes according to press size and print width. Large sheets are produced and cut to the customer’s exact dimensions with high accuracy.
– Dimensions and hardness:
Roll length: 4000 mm
Width: 25 mm; 40 mm; 50 mm
Thickness: 5 mm; 7 mm; 9 mm
Hardness: 50A, 55A, 60A, 65A, 70A, 75A, 80A, 85A, 90A
Colours: brown, green, opaque white, red, etc.
– Notes:
– The harder the blade, the better its solvent resistance
– If the print surface is not flat, choose a softer blade
– With a high mesh count screen, a hard blade is more suitable than a soft one.
– With aggressive solvent or UV inks, a harder blade has better solvent resistance, which limits swelling
of the blade caused by the solvent.
– A soft blade gives a thicker ink film than a hard blade
– Hard blades suit automatic presses with high speed and print pressure; soft blades
suit hand printing or semi-automatic presses where speed and pressure are lower.
