Anilox roll cleaning machine – cell cleaning by ultrasonic or laser
Over time, dried ink and residue build up in the cells of the anilox roll and reduce cell volume. The result is weak, uneven colour and the need to add ink to compensate. Manual cleaning with brushes and chemicals does not clean deeply and can damage the ceramic surface.
The anilox roll cleaning machine deep-cleans the cells using ultrasonic or laser technology, restoring cell volume and extending roll life.
Machine overview
PTS supplies two technologies. The ultrasonic machine uses 40 – 68 kHz ultrasonic waves in a cleaning bath to dislodge ink residue from the cells. The laser machine uses a 50 – 200 W fibre laser source scanning the surface of the rotating roll, vaporising ink residue without chemicals. The machines take rolls of Ø100 – Ø400 mm diameter and 500 – 3000 mm length.
Machine in operation
Applications
- Routine cleaning of anilox rolls on corrugated flexo printers.
- Recovery of rolls with plugged cells and weak colour.
- Roll maintenance before storage or before important colour jobs.
Key features
- Two technologies: 40 – 68 kHz ultrasonic or 50 – 200 W fibre laser.
- Deep cleaning: removes residue in the cells that brushes cannot reach.
- No chemicals (laser machine): less waste, safer for the operator.
- Wide roll range: Ø100 – Ø400 mm, length 500 – 3000 mm.
- Cleaning time: 15 – 30 minutes per roll.
Practical benefits
- Restored cell volume, stable and correct colour.
- Less ink compensation and less colour adjustment time on the machine.
- Longer anilox roll life and lower roll replacement cost.
- In-house maintenance, with no need to send rolls out for cleaning.
Suitable customers
- Plants with several flexo printers and many anilox rolls.
- Plants printing high-quality, multi-colour corrugated boxes.
