Flexo plate mounting machine – camera registration

Flexo plates for corrugated printers are mounted on a carrier sheet before being fitted to the print cylinder. A mounting error of a few tenths of a millimetre is enough to cause misregister in multi-colour printing.

The plate mounter uses magnifying cameras to align the register marks, so the plate for each colour is mounted in the correct position, quickly and repeatably.

Machine overview

The machine has a mounting table, an HD camera system with 30 – 50× magnification and a monitor showing the register marks. The operator aligns the marks on the plate with the reference marks and then mounts the plate. Positioning accuracy is ≤ 0.02 mm; plate sizes range from 200 × 300 mm to 1600 × 2800 mm.
